In 7 years of attending Shooting the West, I’ve yet to see a standing ovation. Stacy Pearall’s moving presentation of her war combat photography and the stories told of brothers lost in battle stirred emotion that united a room of diverse age, politics, and histories.

After, thanks in part to Manfrotto’s support, Stacy set up a portrait studio and photographed the veterans attending the symposium. The full series can be viewed on her PhotoShelter site.

It’s that time again. About to head out to Winnemucca, Nevada for the 24th installation of the “world” famous Shooting the West. Noted speakers include Al Petteway and Amy White, Stacy Pearsall, and Adam Jahiel. Top it off with a cornucopia of crotchety old timers, mule size helpings of Basque food, the intolerably drinkable Picon Punch and you’ve got yourself quite a week.
